Casale di Sant’ Andrea’s History

History

A superb family villa, set in the hills between Cortona and Umbertide, this imposing old manor house is quietly secluded, yet well placed for exploration of both Tuscan and Umbrian towns. Beautifully restored to retain its character features, the villa’s rough-hewn rafters, traditional tiled ceilings and stone lintels are juxtaposed with contemporary comforts, in rooms designed with understated elegance. At the heart of the house an exquisite drawing room is furnished in blues and white, combining antiques with works of modern art, next door an extremely comfy study is the place to read, watch tv or curl up on the sofa. The first floor offers further seating areas, a galleried sitting room, library and two outdoor terraces.

Testimonials

  • "We have just returned from the most fantastic week at Renali... I just wanted to thank you personally it was one of the best weeks we have ever had."
    Renali Estate, Tuscany
  • "The most enchanting house with breathtaking views, nestling in the middle of completely unspoilt and gorgeous countryside. The only sounds are breeze, bullfrogs and bells from a nearby village. The loggia, pool and gardens and walks through many acres make for the perfect hide away. The interiors are stylish with clever use of local antiquities, artefacts and furnishings. It is a rare treat to stay in such an exquisite private house."

  • "This was planned as a special celebration for our 40th wedding anniversary and we couldn't have chosen a better spot. The whole thing was delightful, effortless and extremely conducive to the best and happiest of family occasions. We all agreed it was one of the nicest weeks of our lives!"

  • "The farmhouse, pool area and gardens were enchanting and suited us perfectly in every way, and it was beautifully set up in terms of relaxation and lifestyle. The kitchen and BBQ were very conducive to self-catering, and the local shopkeepers, both in the little supermarket in Pergo and the butcher and bakery in Mercatale were so friendly. Local restaurants were nice, and they even had a 'senza glutine' one called La Tufa in Ossaia, to cater for one of our group!"
